This is Claudia Kishi. Yes, from The Babysitters Club. *hangs head*
Claudia was always my favorite babysitter, what with her outrageous fashion sense, fabulous artistic talent, and room full of hidden junk food and Nancy Drew novels. I think I had a raging girl crush on her as a nine-year-old, which helps to explain some of the pin-up characteristics of this drawing.
I can't draw hands, I know. Or fishnet.
The paper I drew this on was a bit too big for my scanner, so you can't really make it out, but the box she's taking her Dorritos from is labeled "Art Suplys." I've met some bad spellers in my day, but none quite so bad as Claudia!
From Claudia's expression, I'm going to assume that one of her parents just came home early and caught her rading her junk food stash. Although given what we've seen of the Kishis, I'm not sure if they'd be more upset by her Dorritos or by her outfit!
Pin-up was the first thing that struck me when I saw this. Especially the "oh!" expression. Wow, was there really a 'babysitter' who dressed like this?!
It's adorable and reminds me very much of certain comics from the 80's. Huh, wonder why the didn't make a comic of it. My sister read some of the books, but I don't think I ever did. She described some of the stories to me though as I recall.

Well, she never wore fishnets in the books, but she probably would have if given half a chance. Claudia was famous for coming up with really outrageous outfits and hairstyles, and she is mentioned several times as wearing short skirts. There are also several references to her sneaking clothes or jewelry past her parents' attention.
And randomly enough, they ARE making graphic novels of the Babysitters Club books now! They're aimed at the same audience the original books were, eight to ten-year-old girls, and they've modernized them a bit. My sexy Claudia would be out of the question there, though!
I agree, I think she would too! Actually, I think this is quite good for someone who doesn't usually draw - this is well balanced in form and color. You don't suck at art even though you rock at English.
I dunno, with the popularity of things like Brats and the fact that Jem was wildly popular in its day, I'd say Claudia stands a chance.

"Oh, this is horrible!"
"I think it's 'alternative'."
"Yeah, it's an alternative to 'good'."
Also, I have a big mouth just like Kristy. ^^
